This was their second visit to Browns Sports & Leisure Club where they spent 5 days, in order to step up their pre-season training in the warmth of the Algarve sun.
The team was able to use Browns facilities to undergo a series of intensive training sessions and will look to put that into practice against Armagh in the Bank of Ireland Ulster Senior Football Championship Quarter Final on the 23rd of May.
The Club’s Manager Assistant, Sport Scientist Sarah Hughes said “it’s been a brilliant week, the conditions were just what we wanted, that being good weather with no rain!! The excellent wide range of facilities, which are top quality, are ideal for our training camp. The playing surface has been good and firm. We couldn’t have asked for better as Browns complex layout ensures that the teams mixes together and allows for the essential team building to occur. The playing surface means that the best footballers are given a chance to shine. This is the perfect kick-start a team needs. Everyone leaves feeling good about themselves, their football and their team-mates. The staff has looked after us well and everything has run very smoothly. This gives the team a great head start and hopefully we will reap the rewards in the upcoming quarter final against Armagh.”

Monaghans G.A.A returned to Ireland confident that they can repeat the performances of the seasons 2002 & 2003, after being able to accomplish so much more at suitable training facilities established here in the Algarve and are looking to return next year for the third year in a row as they believe Vilamoura and Browns Sports & Leisure Club in particular is fundamental to a team’s preparation for success. We wish them a very successful season!
