Huddersfield are staying at Rugby League’s preferred training centre, Browns Sport & Leisure Club for 7 days. This is the first time the Giants have visited Browns and the Algarve but follow Bradford Bulls and Wakefield Wildcats in choosing Portugal as an ideal location for pre-season warm-weather training.
Coach Jon Sharp emphasized the importance of using the facilities at Browns Sport & Leisure Club for pre-season training by stating:
“I’ve got the players for 24 hours a day and …we’ll be doing two weeks worth in one week. Plus the quality of the pitches we will be using is superb.”
The largest factor of the camp structure will be to fine tune their set-plays and assess how effective these are going to be in game situations. Jon stated this is possible because Browns is “ideal for testing out game-related exercises, which is what we needed to do right now!”
The Giants will fly back to England on Saturday 22nd January well prepared for their opening game of Super League against arch rivals Leigh Centurions on February 12th. They will be looking to get off to a flying start in the Super League, by putting into reality all their hard work done in the Algarve and aim for a top six finish.
