| Winning Team: Can´t Touch This |
Friday saw all of the teams arrive from England and settle into the superb facilities of Browns Sports and Leisure Club.
With anticipation high for a great Saturday tournament the sudden rain storm during breakfast was not a good sign, but come game time the skies opened up and the sun began to shine.
8 teams from England and 2 teams from Portugal battled it out on a sunny day to make the playoffs; with the sun shining and music pumping the atmosphere was what would be expected of the sunny Algarve. In the evening, teams enjoyed a great BBQ dinner with live entertainment.

| Best Player Award (Greg - Can´t Touch This) |
Sunday started as it meant to go on - with a steady drizzle. It was now time for some fun on the sand and despite the moans and groans from the aching muscles of the previous day, everyone really enjoyed the sand tournament with some great diving touchdowns and impromptu jigs from many of the teams. A bit of light hearted fun before the ¼’s, semi and finals proved to be a great way for everyone to chill out and recover from the Saturday´s games.
DThe main tournament playoffs got underway in the mid afternoon in drizzly weather; the competition was outstanding and was a hard fought battle to the end. The eventual winners were “Can’t Touch This” from London with “Soft Touch 1st” taking the runners-up spot.
After such an active weekend, everyone was looking forward to the Gala dinner and to unwind with a few drinks. The dinner was a great event with a lot of acknowledgments to the great facilities, level of participation and spirit of the game.
The following official awards were announced at the dinner (the unofficial ones will be left to the memories):
Beach Winners – Can’t Touch This
Beach Runners-up – Untouchables
Main Tournament Winners – Can’t Touch This
Main Tournament Runners-up – Soft Touch 1st’s
Best Female Player – Gill
Best Male Player – Greg
Best Referee – Jacob

Big thanks go to the Officials and Referees (Kirsten, Craig, Greg, Lawrence and Jacob)
This tournament certainly lived up to all of the expectations of the organisers and players. It will become an annual event in the May Bank holiday weekend with a further date announced for the end of September.
Browns Sports & Leisure Club and TouchRugby.com would like to thank those players who have made it to the inaugural event and look forward to see everyone back for the next Touch rugby tournament!
