Game
preparation is high on the list of priorities for Wakefield Wildcats during their
current week-long warm weather camp in Browns Sports & Leisure Club in Vilamoura.
The Wildcats play
their first Super League fixture on Saturday, February 21st, at the new Warrington
Wolves stadium, the Haliwell Jones Stadium.
"The
playing surface has allowed us do game specific preparation, this together with
the other facilities gives perfect game preparation.", said coach Shane
McNally at the end of the training camp.
Shane described why pre-season training camps are an essential tool for team
cohesion especially for the two new recent Samoan signings and academy youngsters:
“Being together for the full week allows for lots of «getting
to know you» time for the players and staff.”
Shane felt training progressed as well as he expected “The facilities
are excellent..., facilities do not necessarily make a great camp but the
people working at the facilities ensure the success of the camp. That is how
it has been for us”
Among the players, we would like to highlight the presence of Gareth Ellis,
Wakefield’s international player that was part of the British team that
played Australia in last year´s test series.
To all the Wildcats squad we would like to wish the very best luck in the Super
League 2004!
