Football Blues at Browns
8 th – 13 th Dec saw Browns Sport and Leisure club once again welcome Oxford University Women's Football Club to it's superb training facilities .
The Oxford Women used the start of their early Christmas break to relax and catch a bit of winter sun but mainly to follow a winter training schedule.
The schedule consisted of working out in the fully equipped gym, swimming, playing volleyball, attending high energetic spinning classes and practising football skills on the artificial 5-a-side football pitch.

The main objective however, was to experience some Portuguese style futsal . Normally accustomed to traditional 11-a-side football, Oxford Women took to futsal (5-a-side) with enthusiasm and vigor. Over the 6 days of staying at Browns, Oxford played 4 games against local teams that compete in the Seniores Femininos Futsal league run by the Assciacao de Futedol do Algarve . These teams were: CDR Quartierense, Padernense, Casa de Benfica Faro(sub 17) and GDC Machados.

The experience of the local teams showed and although Oxford unfortunately were unable to secure a win, their tour to the Algarve was an enjoyable and relaxing one away fro the stresses of their recent exams and dreary English weather.

It was a pleasure that Oxford University Women's Football team used Browns facilities as a winter training facility and we look forward to seeing them again in 2004.
